MIN#Tucson2016-61 NEW!

Rare combination featuring two gemmy Scheelite crystals with a Pink Apatite on Muscovite!
A gorgeous pairing, a small find of this unusual combination was discovered about a dozen years
ago in China and to my knowledge has not been repeated. This specimen is undoubtedly from that
find and is the first Scheelite-Pink Apatite specimen I've seen in a very long time. The Scheelites
are bright, gemmy, and vibrant orange with very glassy lustrous surfaces. The Apatite is a lovely
rosy-pink with sharp crystal form and a great positioning in the foreground. In excellent condition.

From Mt Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China.
Measures 6.5 cm by 8.3 cm by 4 cm in total size.

Tucson2016-123ChromiumPetrifiedWoodnearWinslowArizonaB.jpg (408869 bytes)

MIN#Tucson2016-71 Sold!

Exceptional Petrified cross section of Chromium colored wood (Araucarioxylon arizonicum)!
From one of the oddest finds of Petrified wood in the world, this Conifer tree existed between
65 and 200 million years ago during the Triassic Era. When the tree died and was becoming
petrified, it became exposed to the mineral Chromium (same mineral which colors Emeralds).
Native Americans were the first to find the material and used it in jewelry making but kept the
location a secret until it was eventually rediscovered and authenticated by the Smithsonian.
These specimens are natural hygrometers. When dry they become a very light pale green and
when wet or exposed to humidity they turn a deep green. This specimen is a very fine example,
cut into a cross section and displays a full rind of bark around both ends which are highly polished.
From a locality near Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona.
Measures 7 cm by 9.4 cm by 2.5 cm (1 inch) in thickness!

MIN#Tucson2016-79 NEW!

Spectacular cabinet plate featuring a large complex Calcite crystal with Pyrite on Marcasite clusters!
A wonderful old classic Calcite from the classic American mining locality of Galena, Illinois! I rarely find
specimens from Galena and Calcite are quite rare. This specimen dates back to the early 1900s and there
are only two specimens of Calcite shown on for the locality on Mindat.org. This specimen is much better
than either one of those. The Calcite is complex in form and large sized at 6 cm in size. It is translucent
with a silky luster and displays multiple steps which are accented by a sprinkling of Pyrite and Marcasite
crystals. Hosting the large Calcite is a matrix consisting of bronze and golden colored Marcasite crystals in
Cluster. The specimen has a beautiful look and is one of the more unique Calcite specimens from the show!
