Exceptional and RARE specimen of
Native Silver wires with Acanthite crystals on host rock matrix!
True museum quality, this incredible German Silver has been in a private
collection for years but was
offered to me during the Tucson Show and I was happy to acquire it for the
website! The aesthetics are
stunning and it's difficult to walk away from the specimen. The wires are
completely original with their
Acanthite crystals still intact! They rise upwards, still attached to the
original rock matrix. This is a true
rarity in that most were broken away from the matrix when removed from the mine.
The specimen dates
to the late 1700's - early 1800's period of mining at the Himmelsfurst.

Super aethetic
specimen of Native Leaf Silver with Calcite and iridescent Safflorite clusters!
This classic specimen from the old Cobalt Mining District is one of my favorites
from the show. The crystalline
leaf of pure Silver is so brilliant and lustrous as it rises up from a matrix of
Calcite and is framed by the bluish-
purple iridescence of the Safflorite crystals. For me, this specimen is pure eye
candy. It's also displayable from
both sides as the large Silver leaf is perfectly centered atop the middle of the
hard matrix. Flashy and remarkable!

Stunning
specimen of Native Wire Silver from
Freiberg!
This is easily one of the most beautiful German Native Wire Silvers I've seen in
the miniature
size range. The specimen takes on the appearance of a bonzai tree as it leans
towards the left and
gives rise to numerous smaller wires which sprout out and upwards from the much
thicker "trunk".
Interestingly, one wire bends downward and touches the ground. Beautifully
patinaed and structured.
Arborescent Silvers are always among the most popular and this one fully
captures that appearance.

Absolutely
gorgeous Proustite crystal cluster on Calcite covered matrix!
One of the finest I've ever seen, this very impressive classic locality specimen
carries the impressive
provenance which includes the American Museum of Natural History Collection in
New York City. From there
it went into the famed Lawrence Conklin personal collection, probably through a
trade with the museum which
he was known for. The specimen dates back to the early 1800's and features an
impressive cluster of Proustite
crystals perched along the side of a Calcite covered matrix. The color of the
Proustite crystals is a deep red which is
incredible considering the age of the specimen, and the crystals are also very
sharp and lustrous. This is the Silver
mineral known as Roby Silver for its ruby-like coloration and this specimen has
been beautifully preserved over the
decades. The specimen is in excellent condition and the crystals are super sharp
with only a few trivial natural contacts.

fine Silver dendrites on Quartz matrix!

surface.
The crystals are sharp and lustrous with a golden-brown antique patina. The specimen is
quite
heavy due to its coverage and the Quartz matrix is heavily filled with small Acanthite
crystals.

Amazing specimen of Native Silver
wires atop Acanthite covered matrix!
Truely museum quality, this ranks in the top five of all German Wire Silvers
I've sold over the past
decade or so. The aesthetics are stunning and it's difficult to walk away from
the specimen without
taking several glances as many people discovered for themselves at the Tucson
Show. The wires
rise up from the matrix and curl outwards and back inwards to create the classic
"tree" appearance.
The greatest wire rises some 15 cm in the very center of the cluster! Freiberg
specimens of this
calibre are few and far between and this represents a wonderful opportunity to
acquire a very fine
and quite lustrous German Wire Silver or upgrade an existing Silver already in a
collection.

Amazing
combination plate featuring crystals of Native Silver emerging from white
Calcite with Sphalerite crystals!
Silver crystals from Morocco are not exceptionally rare but in association with
Sphalerite they are very rare. The crystals
of Silver are angular and blocky and were exposed from Calcite as were the
Sphalerite crystals which both measure about
1 cm in size. They are mostly brown with yellowish highlights and the isolated
way they sit atop the matrix is very appealing.

Elegant specimen
featuring curling wires of Native Silver rising from an Acanthite matrix!
This is a gorgeous Silver specimen from the world famous Freiberg District and one that is
every bit as
impressive as the larger specimens at just a fraction of their price. The numerous wires
rise vertically
before twisting and curling near the tips, forming a specimen that is both well balanced
and attractive.
The patina is a rich golden-brown near the base and this changes over to a darker gray as
a very fine
Acanthite evenly covers the upper portions of the wires. This is indicative of a specimen
that is both
original and untampered with since repeated cleaning can remove this fine layer of
Acanthite. Original
classic Silvers are highly sought after by most collectors and much more attractive in my
own opinion.

VERY RARE!! Historic specimen
featuring Acanthite crystals on Erythrite (Cobalt bloom) covered matrix!
Specimens of this combination from Cobalt are so
rare that you'd be lucky to see one in a decade. This is the first I've offered
in the history of this website (15 years) and I've seen no others, not even during my
visit to Cobalt several years ago. Simply
put, not many large Acanthite specimens with their original Erythrite coating survive from
the Cobalt Mining Disrict. Most
were cleaned or had their Erythrite bloom removed and that is a shame because it's such a
large part of the region's history.
Erythrite, being a Cobalt mineral, is also the reason behind the town's name. This
large plate has been preserved since it
was mined in the early 1900's and the Acanthite crystals are lustrous, measuring to 1.5 cm
in size. They are well scattered
atop the red surfaces. This specimen is a rare opportunity to acquire an original specimen
from a great Silver mining district.

Knarly old tree-like specimen of
Native Wire Silver with Acanthite and rainbow iridescence!
I was struck by this Silver which has so much character and arborescent form
that it's absolutely
beautiful. It reminds most, including myself, of an old sea spray aged Bonsai
Tree growing on a
rocky cliff or outcrop alongside the ocean. Rainbow colored iridescence
highlights the thickest wire
rising up from the left side of the matrix. This is a Silver collector's delight

Exceptional Native Leaf Silver with Safflorite and
Skutterudite from the Cobalt Mining District!
This is an amazing Silver - Easily one of the finest Cobalt specimens I've ever
seen and I acquired
it for the website the moment it was offered to me. Atop the white matrix you
have a beautiful display
of numerous lustrous Native Leaf Silvers, all standing upright, with grayish
Safflorite crystal clusters
and Skutterudite nestled between. The leaves average around 2 cm in size and the
visual display of
the specimen is very 3-dimensional. In excellent condition and very, very
impressive! The Castle Mine
is a Silver Mine just west of Cobalt which has produced since 1917. It produced
6.5 million ounces of
Silver and 300,000 lbs of Cobalt by the end of 1931. The mine opened and closed
again in the 1980's.

Rare specimen
of Native Silver with Safflorite and Amphibole Asbestos from Cobalt, Ontario!
This specimen is entirely composed of Native Silver leaves and dendrites, nestled between
crystal
balls of Safflorite and sprays of Amphibole Asbestos. The Native Silver is lustrous with a
slightly
golden patina while the Safflorite is steel gray to dark gray. This impressive specimen
from the
historical Cobalt area is quite heavy and loaded with Silver all the way through the solid
base.
The Amphibole Asbestos appears as tightly packed fibers and they sit atop the surface of
both
minerals as well as filling the concave openings in the solid matrix. This is a superb
example of
the richness of the Cobalt area, one of the richest strikes of Silver ever recorded. I
wouldn't be

only a few good ones were available at that time. They've long since disappeared and I
haven't seen one in
almost a decade. The Xanthoconite can be seen scattered about atop the Barite blades near
the Argentite
which has completely pseudomorphed and taken on the habit of the Galena cubes. Red
Proustite crystals
are also present on this unique Silver specimen, displaying a close association with the
Xanthoconite.

Fine Native Silver
dendrites in and on Calcite matrix!
This attractive specimen from the frigid far north displays a dendritic
crystalline structure in addition to
several spinel-twin crystals which branch out from the top of the matrix. Silver
was mined for a brief period
at this locality in the 1970's and produced around 75,000 ounces. This specimen
is one of the few I've seen.

Amazing specimen of Silver pseudomorphing
after Acanthite crystals!
This is a tremendous Silver pseudo and the first I have seen from the Rayas Mine. The
Native Silver has
pseudomorphed the majority of the Acanthite and also appears as small wires atop the
crystal surfaces.
The habit of the Acanthites is somewhat hoppered and this has been well preserved by the
Native Silver.
Interestingly enough, there is also Calcite present in the center of the specimen and a
small purple Fluorite.

Mun. de Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Measures 5.2 cm by 5.7 cm by 4.1 cm in total size.

Very rare
specimen of Native Wire Silver from Cobalt!
Wire Silver specimens from the Cobalt Mining District are very rare and
specimens featuring wires of this size
and width are almost never seen in the marketplace. These wires are most like
Silver ropes, measuring 1.2 cm
and 1.6 cm respectively! Numerous smaller wires are intertwined atop the
surfaces and both wires curl into what
almost looks like ramshorn tips. I was stunned to come across this specimen and
quickly acquired it for the website.
Locality: Nipissing Mine (RL400), Coleman Township, Cobalt
Area, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming Dist., Ontario, Canada.
Measures: 4 cm by 3.7 cm by 1.2 cm in total size.

Fine specimen featuring Silver ps after
Dycrasite!
This specimen caught my eye at the show because it looked so much like a Chlorargyrite
in form, texture, and color. It's actually Silver pseudomorphing Dycrasite crystals and
one
of the most unique specimens of this material that I've seen. The display side crystals
are
short and flat-topped with a slight texture. These rise upwards from a matrix consisting
of
dendritic Silver crystals, imparting the specimen with a two sided personality. There's a
really
neat vug near the right side which is completely lined with crystals. This is one of my
favorites.
From Príbram, Central Bohemia Region, Bohemia, Czech
Republic.
Measures 6.2 cm by 8 cm by 3.3 cm in total size.
