Attractive old classic displaying a
frosted Calcite crystal on Chert matrix!
This is a specimen both a geologist and mineral
collector could love because of the way it displays the frosted
and doubly terminated Calcite crystal set at an angle against the two sections of Chert
matrix. This specimen
came of the Tri-State District Mines in the 1930's - 40's and has more character than most
of what I see from
this region. I love the deep golden Calcite interiors which peak through at the perfect
upper termination. The
white frosting is most likely an inclusion and it imparts a two-toned appearance to the
Calcite that is very nice.

Lustrous plate of yellow Pyromorphite

This is the largest plate of Pyromorphite that I've seen from this very old locality. It
dates back
to the Lead mining conducted here by the Romans and many old masonry walls and arches are
still present at the site. This plate displays hundreds of free standing crystals and is

and they completely cover a plate which when turned around, displays a back side covered
in

Super glassy crystals of deep blue Azurite
with green Malachite sprays on matrix!
This is a screamer of an Azurite specimen if you appreciate chisel-perfect and highly
lustrous
Azurite crystals. I won't make the comparison of these Azurites with those of Milpillas
because
the look is somewhat different but they are every bit as impressive to me. The largest of
these
freestanding Azurite crystals measures 2 cm in size and they were obviously well protected
by the
concave pocket in which they formed because all are pristine, save for a couple of small
ones
that touched matrix. This is a specimen that must be seen to be fully appreciated. The
picture is
good but the specimen itself is many times better in person. The crystal luster is mind

Rare specimen of Calcite crystals in
cluster perched atop Marcasite matrix!
This is the first specimen I've offered from the Cadjebut Mine and they are anything but

Dramatic, almost sculptural specimen
of Stibnite crystals in Calcite matrix!
A very aesthetic Italian Stibnite which is both
3-dimensional and balanced. The Stibnites
are in very good condition with only some minor incompleteness here and there. All are
lustrous against the glossy white Calcite surfaces. The specimen was obviously etched to
expose the Stibnite and the preparer did a wonderful job of created a specimen with a lot
of eye appeal. I love the way the top looks like an ocean wave rising above the crystals.

Interesting specimen featuring
greenish-brown Embolite crystals with Goethite and Cerussite!
Chlorargyrite is the mineral known as "Horn
Silver". It was once misunderstood by miners
until they had it assayed and discovered it was Silver Chloride and very rich.
Embolite is
a variety of Chlorargyrite which adds some Bromian into the molecular mix and is also
known as Bromian Chlorargyrite. This specimen is covered with the waxy-brown crystals
which are accented by iridescent (bluish-lavender) Goethite and tiny twinned Cerussites!
I haven't seen this combination of minerals from the Broken Hill before and it's very
nice.

Exceptional and quite rare specimen of
Brochantite on a cabinet sized matrix!
Brochantites from Nevada are extremely difficult to find and Ludwig specimens are seldomly
seen
in the marketplace. The concave structures of this large specimen are heavily covered with
fine green
acicular crystals of Brochantite which appear mostly as clusters and sprays. The sprays
have been well
protected by the matrix pockets and light jumps across each needle surface to create a
dazzling visual
appearance. This is very rare locality specimen and represents a unique opportunity for
all collectors!

Gemmy, deep golden, doubly terminated
Calcite crystal perched atop a small bit of matrix!
This is a lovely crystal, with two perfect tips and barely a contact
anywhere along its highly lustrous,
glassy surfaces. The crystal faces are well striated with a transparency of interior that
allows one to
see the matrix from the front side of the Calcite. Light jumps off the surfaces as I
rotate the specimen!
Stunning plate of lustrous Galena
cubes with Sphalerite on drusy coated Chert matrix!
A great looking cabinet specimen from the bygone
days of mining in the Tri-State District. The mining
towns of the Tri-State are rapidly disappearing with the government completely destroying
some in
order to clean up heavy metal waste piles from last century's mining activity. A
tornado ripped through
Joplin last year and caused extensive damage to the town. As the history of the Tri-State
District is
learned by collectors and specimens of quality become scarcer every year, plates of this
size will
only become more desirable. This specimen is in good condition with only a few contacts
for the size.

Exceptional combination specimen of
large Galena cubes with Calcite crystals on matrix!
A stunning piece that is as aesthetic as it is
impressive! The Galena cubes are brilliant and lustrous,
with the largest at top measuring 5.6 cm in size. The smaller cube below measures 3 cm in
size. Both
crystals sit atop a sparkling matrix of Dolomite and Sphalerite. The Calcite crystals in
the middle and
along the right side add the perfect balance to the Galena and all are terminated save for
one and along
the outer trimming edge. The single cleaved Calcite gets lost among the others and is not
noticeable.

Rare and unusual! Brilliant crystals of
Calcite from New Jersey!
This is the first and only Calcite specimen I've seen from the Chimney Rock locality in
New Jersey.
The crystals are rhombohedral, and for the most part, twinned, with an intense rolling
surface luster
that is very difficult to convey with a photograph. It's there however and the specimen is
very flashy
in person. The Calcites are internally clear, but overgrowth by a milky layer and a light
gray dusting of
some other mineral. Very nice specimen and a rare locality for Calcite collectors to add
