MIN#Keystone-201

Unique specimen of Golden Fluorite cubes with Calcite crystals and botryoidal Barite!
A great looking plate which is not only in excellent condition, but also has rounded balls
of white Barite that grew in between and atop the Fluorite cubes
. I don't recall seeing
another specimen of this variety from the Minerva #1. Usually the Barite is completely
etched away but the forces of nature chose to perserve it on this specimen. Small yellow
Calcite crystal clusters accent the surfaces here and there. Many are doubly terminated.

MIN#Keystone-211

Fine crystal of Cerussite set atop matrix from Tsumeb!
This is a really nice example of Cerussite from one of the classic localities for the mineral.
What strikes me about this specimen is the depth of the crystal. The glassy, highly lustrous
spokes extend back over 3 cm, making this an extraordinarily deep crystal considering the
overall size. The specimen is in excellent condition with only a scattering of tiny edge contacts.
It's translucent to transparent with am intense luster and flash that rolls across the surfaces.

RARE! Fine crystal clusters of orange Creedite on Calcite matrix!
This is an unusual and quite rare specimen. Orange Creedite on matrix is already a difficult find
but to see a couple of crystal cluster balls on a Calcite crystal covered matrix is almost unheard of.
This is possibly the only example of this variety that I have come across in all my years of searching
the shows. The largest Creedite crystal ball at the top measures 5 cm in size. It is completely covered
with glassy crystals but does have a flattened area near the far right where the specimen was separated
from its surrounding matrix. The Creedite crystals are mostly transparent with good luster and lots of flash.

MIN#Keystone-232

Large, impressive cluster of Milky Quartz crystals with green Chlorite inclusions!
This is the largest Milky Quartz I've ever seen from Mt. Ida and honestly, I haven't seen very many
as most that are found there are transparent, colorless rock crystal. The huge point on the left measures
21 cm in length while the crystal point on the right measures nearly 26 cm! Nestled between the huge
points are numerous smaller crystals and these are present on the back side as well. The left crystal
changes over to a nearly transparent Quartz near the top termination but the right crystal is all Milky
with a wonderful glassy luster covering the white cream surfaces where the Chlorite is not present.
There also appears to be a scepter or attempt at forming a scepter just below the termination.

MIN#Keystone-242 NEW!

Beautiful combination of orange Wulfenite blades with white Barite on Mimetite!
This is a San Francisco Mine specimen and it features the three minerals this classic locality
is famous for. Fine Wulfenite blades measuring to nearly 2 cm sit atop a matrix covered by
orange botryoidal Mimetite. This is topped off by fine blades of white Barite and the visual
contrast is beautiful. There are some incomplete Wulfenite blades along the periphery and

structure. This formed the foundation for the second period of Azurite formation which consists of
well formed crystals of a darker nature. The crystals are sharp with well defined edges and corners
and are covered with a shiny luster. They measure to 1 cm in size and are in excellent condition.

are perfectly terminated. The two largest Calcites in the foreground rise vertically while the smaller Calcites
in the background point out towards the viewer. To the left and right sides are clusters of Malachite coated
Sphalerite crystals. These add a nice accent, as do the Chalcopyrites inclusions beneath the Calcite surfaces.

it's scarcity. The specimen is well rounded and balanced between the three main minerals. The
white Adularia crystals are opaque, with a really nice one near the center being doubly terminated.

MIN#Keystone-278

LARGE CABINET specimen of Native Silver in metallic matrix with Safflorrite!
This specimen is very heavy and incredibly rich. It could have easily been part of the famous "Silver Sidewalk" considering
the size of the Silver seam but fortunately it was preserved for posterity as a specimen. A large seam of gleaming Native
Silver can be seen extending down the top half of the matrix and popping out of the narrow openings along the bottom half.
A sparkling coating of Safflorite is visible atop the bottom portion, forming roundish clusters alongside the Silver. The
matrix is a grey metallic mass that appears to be Arsenopyrite with possibly some Galena and Nickeline in the mix.
This is a classic specimen of Silver from a classic mining locality that dates back to the early 1900's. It's also one of the
most impressive Cobalt specimens I've seen to date and definately the heaviest. It could be trimmed but I like it as is.

Denver2014-452SpangoliteAzuriteJeanBaptisteMineGreece80mm.jpg (508154 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-282

Great looking specimen of Spangolite with Azurite balls on layered Limonite matrix!
This is a fine specimen with coverage atop the entire matrix. The greenish-blue Spangolite lays flat
atop the brown matrix while the blue balls of Azurite rise upwards as much as 1 cm, adding relief to the surface.
The back side of the specimen is full of micro-crystals of Spangolite. They cover the Limonite coated Azurite with
an intense sparkle. Interesting fact about Spangolite - it was named after a mineral collector from Tombstone,
Arizona. Norman Spang had several specimens of the mineral in his collection which became the type material.
He apparently had found them somewhere in the area near Tombstone but the exact source was never located.
From the Jean Baptiste Mine, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attikí Prefecture, Greece.
Measures 7 cm by 8.2 cm by 4 cm in total size.

VERY RARE!! Rhodochrosite crystals on Manganite matrix from Croatia!
This is a specimen of Rhodochrosite from a locality so obscure that it isn't even listed in
mindat.org. The specimen was mined in the 1850's near the community of Voinic which is a
small municipality in north-central Croatia. The Rhodochrosite appear as rice-grain shaped
crystals tucked into the recesses of the dark matrix. A beautiful old time rarity from Europe.

Large plate of Reddish-orange crystals of Selenite in cluster!
This is a superb cluster of elongated Selenite crystals from a classic Mexican locale.
The orange crystals sit upright atop the Selenite matrix and all are complete and terminated
except for a few along the front trimming edge. This could be cleaned up with some additional
trimming. The color is probably Hematite influenced and is very rich through the clear interiors.

Fine specimen featuring curling crystals and nodules of blue Hemimorphite on matrix!
Very pretty specimen of blue Hemimorphite on a concave matrix. The Hemimorphite appears as nodules

Fine specimen of Hematite colored reddish-brown Calcite crystals in cluster on Dolomitic matrix!
This a rarer locality specimen and one that is colored by Hematite. Even the Dolomite crystals atop
the matrix and beneath the Calcite crystals are colored brown by Hematite. The Calcites are sharp
and lustrous with only a few contacts near the edges. The matrix gives the specimen 3-dimensionality.

MIN#Keystone-291 NEW!

Exceptional crystal-clear Fluorite dodecahedron perched between Green Quartz
(Hedenbergite included) and atop Calcite! The glassy Fluorite itself is pristine and very
lustrous, measuring nearly 4 cm across the front. A smaller sidecart crystal is incomplete
on the backside but this doesn't affect the large Fluorite. Most of the Green Quartz
crystals are terminated with the largest being doubly terminated. The Calcites near
the bottom add a nice touch to what is a very attractive specimen of bygone mining.

Denver2014-353b.jpg (419008 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-293

Rare and historical specimen of Chlorargyrite with Malachite from California!
These fine tan colored crystals of Chlorargyrite are framed by fibrous green Malachite.
The specimen is from the old mining town of Calico, San Bernardino County, California.
Calico was established in the 1880's as a Silver mining town and at its height had over 500
mines in operation. When the price of Silver declined in the 1890's, the town began to lose
population. When the Borax operation shut down in 1907, the desert town was completely
abandoned and became a ghost town. Today, Calico has been restored and is now a park.
Specimens from Calico are very rare in the marketplace and this is the first I've offered.

From Calico, Calico District, Calico Mts (Calico Hills), San Bernardino Co., California.
Measures 5.4 cm by 6.5 cm in size.

MIN#Keystone-294

Fine crystals of white Calcite set atop botryoidal yellowish-orange Smithsonite (Turkey-Fat)!
This is an interesting combo that differs from the yellow Smithsonites ps Dolomite I usually see
from the locality. This Smithsonite surfaces here are completely botryoidal in form and appear
mainly at the edges near the trimming border. In the middle of the specimen are small clusters
of Calcite. The crystals almost look like rosettes and contrast beautifully with the Smithsonite.
Overall, the specimen is in very good condition with the usual incompleteness along the edges.

MIN#Keystone-297

Large cabinet plate featuring brilliant green crystal sprays of Atacamite on matrix!
This is a great looking specimen which is nearly covered end to end with these super reflective and
lustrous crystals. There are individual crystals measuring to 1 cm present atop the surface in addition
to radial sprays of Atacamite which roll the luster like a cartwheel. I don't detect any damage to the crystals
and the specimen is MUCH better in person since it is very difficult to capture its brilliance with a camera.

MIN#Keystone-299

Aesthetic combination specimen of Malachite with smoky Cerussite crystals!
I think I also see a little bit of Duftite in the mix. The Cerussite crystals are isolated
on the matrix which is always nice and their smoky interiors are highlighted by very glassy
faces. There are some tiny bumps here and there and the usual contacting along the trimming edge
but most are complete and in excellent shape. The Malachite appears mainly as a mound at the top
and there are doubly terminated Cerussite crystals sitting atop and all the around the Malachite base.

as crystal cluster balls and finally, the Quartz needles rise up from the matrix to hold it
all together. Any contacts are minor and easily lost in the rich association of minerals.
