MIN#Keystone-211

Fine crystal of Cerussite set atop matrix from Tsumeb!
This is a really nice example of Cerussite from one of the classic localities for the mineral.
What strikes me about this specimen is the depth of the crystal. The glassy, highly lustrous
spokes extend back over 3 cm, making this an extraordinarily deep crystal considering the
overall size. The specimen is in excellent condition with only a scattering of tiny edge contacts.
It's translucent to transparent with am intense luster and flash that rolls across the surfaces.

These specimens are difficult to find, mainly because the Galenas are usually dull or coated.

condition with no detractions, this would make a great addition to a Fluorite or locality suite.

This specimen is covered from one side to the other with fine yellow Mimetite crystals and
clusters and they sparkle wildly under even the faintest lighting. The plate is in excellent

slightly concave and this has served to protect a good portion of the crystal clusters from any
rub or contacting. This is a great looking cabinet plate and one of the best I saw at the show.

Denver2013-90QuartzChloriteMtIdaAK28cm.jpg (266243 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-232

Large, impressive cluster of Milky Quartz crystals with green Chlorite inclusions!
This is the largest Milky Quartz I've ever seen from Mt. Ida and honestly, I haven't seen very many
as most that are found there are transparent, colorless rock crystal. The huge point on the left measures
21 cm in length while the crystal point on the right measures nearly 26 cm! Nestled between the huge
points are numerous smaller crystals and these are present on the back side as well. The left crystal
changes over to a nearly transparent Quartz near the top termination but the right crystal is all Milky
with a wonderful glassy luster covering the white cream surfaces where the Chlorite is not present.
There also appears to be a scepter or attempt at forming a scepter just below the termination.

The first thing I noticed about the specimen was the sharpness of the scalenohedral Calcite crystals and the
reflectivity of their glassy surfaces. Each crystal is phantomed and evidenced from the bottom side and all
are perfectly terminated. The two largest Calcites in the foreground rise vertically while the smaller Calcites
in the background point out towards the viewer. To the left and right sides are clusters of Malachite coated
Sphalerite crystals. These add a nice accent, as do the Chalcopyrites inclusions beneath the Calcite surfaces.

Bright yellow tabular crystals of Barite perched atop two large Calcite crystals!

atop and draping over the two nearly 3 cm Calcite crystals. I don't see too many of these combos
from Spain which is what attracted me to the specimen. Overall, it's in very good condition with
almost all contacts limited
to only the back side, out of view along the trimming edge there.

MIN#Keystone-258

Rare specimen of reddish Grossular Garnet with Adularia and Biotite Mica!
This is an obscure locality piece from Havilah, California that I've only seen once and this is it.
Mindat.org lists Grossular as a mineral found in this locality but there are no photos, attesting to
it's scarcity. The specimen is well rounded and balanced between the three main minerals. The
white Adularia crystals are opaque, with a really nice one near the center being doubly terminated.
The Grossular Garnet is mostly red with some orange mixed in and a nice semi-gloss luster. There
are some contracts but most are limited to the trimming edges. The center crystals are complete.

Denver2016-82FluoriteCalciteQuartzDalnegorskRussia88mm.jpg (221641 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-291 NEW!

Exceptional crystal-clear Fluorite dodecahedron perched between Green Quartz
(Hedenbergite included) and atop Calcite! The glassy Fluorite itself is pristine and very
lustrous, measuring nearly 4 cm across the front. A smaller sidecart crystal is incomplete
on the backside but this doesn't affect the large Fluorite. Most of the Green Quartz
crystals are terminated with the largest being doubly terminated. The Calcites near
the bottom add a nice touch to what is a very attractive specimen of bygone mining.
From Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia.
Measures 7.4 cm by 6 cm by 4.8 cm in total size.

Denver2014-353ChlorargyriteCalicoCalifornia7cm.jpg (371286 bytes)
Denver2014-353b.jpg (419008 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-293

Rare and historical specimen of Chlorargyrite with Malachite from California!
These fine tan colored crystals of Chlorargyrite are framed by fibrous green Malachite.
The specimen is from the old mining town of Calico, San Bernardino County, California.
Calico was established in the 1880's as a Silver mining town and at its height had over 500
mines in operation. When the price of Silver declined in the 1890's, the town began to lose
population. When the Borax operation shut down in 1907, the desert town was completely
abandoned and became a ghost town. Today, Calico has been restored and is now a park.
Specimens from Calico are very rare in the marketplace and this is the first I've offered.

From Calico, Calico District, Calico Mts (Calico Hills), San Bernardino Co., California.
Measures 5.4 cm by 6.5 cm in size.

Denver2013-221SmithsoniteCalciteMonteCristoMineArkansas10cm.jpg (246960 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-294 Sold!

Fine crystals of white Calcite set atop botryoidal yellowish-orange Smithsonite (Turkey-Fat)!
This is an interesting combo that differs from the yellow Smithsonites ps Dolomite I usually see
from the locality. This Smithsonite surfaces here are completely botryoidal in form and appear
mainly at the edges near the trimming border. In the middle of the specimen are small clusters
of Calcite. The crystals almost look like rosettes and contrast beautifully with the Smithsonite.
Overall, the specimen is in very good condition with the usual incompleteness along the edges.

From the Monte Cristo Mine, Rush, Rush Creek District, Marion County, Arkansas.
Measures 10 cm by 8.8 cm by 3.7 cm in total size.

Brilliant cluster of Quartz var. Amethyst crystals on matrix from India!
I don't find too many plates of Amethyst from India at the shows so this piece was quickly
acquired for the website. The crystals are extremely gemmy with a vibrant coloration beneath
super glassy crystal faces. The coverage of crystals is complete and very even across the matrix.

Large doubly terminated golden Calcite on Calcite covered matrix!
Gorgeous deep golden Calcite, displaying a perfect termination at both ends in addition to a
wonderful translucense. The surfaces are highly lustrous with no detracting contacts. The large
golden crystal sits atop a small amount of Calcite covered matrix, giving the piece a good solid base.

Denver2013-49KMAtacamiteLaFarolaMineChile18cm.jpg (366840 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-297

Large cabinet plate featuring brilliant green crystal sprays of Atacamite on matrix!
This is a great looking specimen which is nearly covered end to end with these super reflective and
lustrous crystals. There are individual crystals measuring to 1 cm present atop the surface in addition
to radial sprays of Atacamite which roll the luster like a cartwheel. I don't detect any damage to the crystals
and the specimen is MUCH better in person since it is very difficult to capture its brilliance with a camera.
From the La Farola Mine, Cerro Pintado, Las Pintadas district, Copiapó Province, Atacama Region, Chile.
Measures 11.8 cm by 18 cm by 2.7 cm in total size.

Multi-mineral combo featuring Tetrahedrite with Sphalerite, Pyrite, Dolomite on Quartz!
This is a showy piece. The Tetrahedrites are sharp and lustrous. The Sphalerite crystals
are gemmy amber-brown. The Pyrite cubes are bright and striated. The Dolomite appears
as crystal cluster balls and finally, the Quartz needles rise up from the matrix to hold it
all together. Any contacts are minor and easily lost in the rich association of minerals.
