MIN#Keystone-201

Impressive specimen of Ram's Horn Selenite on Calcite matrix!
This is a classic old timer from the Copper mines in Bisbee, Arizona. I was taken by the piece
when I discovered it in Tucson and thought at first that it was Moroccan. The fact that it's from
Bisbee makes it many times better and much more desirable. There are actually several curling
Ram's Horns here but the main one that is the center of attention measures 7 cm in size! It's
in perfect, pristine condition and is firmly attached to the Selenite-Calcite matrix base it rises
from. This specimen was once part of a pocket which opened up wide enough to allow for the
Selenite to grow. It's fascinating to think about the earth processes which created such a beauty.
From Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise County, Arizona.
Measures 18 cm by 18.5 cm by 10 cm in total size.

Unique specimen of Golden Fluorite cubes with Calcite crystals and botryoidal Barite!
A great looking plate which is not only in excellent condition, but also has rounded balls
of white Barite that grew in between and atop the Fluorite cubes
. I don't recall seeing
another specimen of this variety from the Minerva #1. Usually the Barite is completely
etched away but the forces of nature chose to perserve it on this specimen. Small yellow
Calcite crystal clusters accent the surfaces here and there. Many are doubly terminated.

Lustrous crystals of Hematite ps after Magnetite with Hematite!
I've seen dozens, if not hundreds of these pseudomorphs over the years but none of them
compared to the aesthetic appearance of this fine specimen.
The crystals of are various shapes
and sizes, with the largest elongated crystal at the top measuring 4.5 cm in length! Other crystals
are pure octahedron but all have pyramidal terminations. The crystal faces are extremely lustrous
and bright with the only exception being the reddish-brown Hematite crystals which add great contrast.

lighter blue drusy but dark blue Azurite crystals are scattered atop the backside Quartz faces.

MIN#Keystone-205

Rare specimen of Acanthite crystals with Proustite on matrix!
This specimen is loaded with lustrous Acanthites and ruby-red Proustite crystals. I can't recall
seeing such a rich concentration on a single matrix before from Germany. The Acanthites are
sharp and raised up from the matrix. The largest triangular crystal in the close up photo measures
.7 cm in size. These crystals are surrounded by red Proustites and some are even partially covered
by them. The Proustites vary in size from a few mms to .5 cm. Overall the specimen is in excellent
shape with complete crystals and good aesthetics. A few of the Proustites are contacted but this is
pretty normal for Proustite specimens and it doesn't detract. You'd need a loupe to see the contacts.

Fine crystals of Gold var. Electrum on Quartz matrix!

about atop the Quartz matrix. The clusters measure in size from .6 to .8 cm.  In excellent condition.

Fine crystal of Cerussite set atop matrix from Tsumeb!
This is a really nice example of Cerussite from one of the classic localities for the mineral.
What strikes me about this specimen is the depth of the crystal. The glassy, highly lustrous
spokes extend back over 3 cm, making this an extraordinarily deep crystal considering the
overall size. The specimen is in excellent condition with only a scattering of tiny edge contacts.
It's translucent to transparent with am intense luster and flash that rolls across the surfaces.

Fine specimen of Native Silver rising up from Calcite matrix!
This amazing miniature not only boasts the very much sought after Silver on Calcite rhomb
appearance - the Silver at the top also forms a complete ring! This is easily one of the most unique
Kongsberg Silvers I've ever owned or offered on the website! The Calcite rhomb at the bottom
is mostly complete with some additional Silver inclusions towards the bottom. The Native Silver
rises upwards some 4 cm and most likely formed the ring around a now missing Calcite or additional

Tucson2014-28CopperRhyoliteCalumetMineMichigan155mm.jpg (325050 bytes)

MIN#Keystone-225 SOLD!

Rare and UNIQUE! Native Copper after Rhyolite pebble with a drill scar!
This piece has quite a story to tell. The Native Copper pseudomorphed an old Rhyolite pebble
and the specimen is faithful to the original form. Inside the pebble, there is a large vug which
makes the specimen appear almost like a geode. Inside the vug are crystals of Native Copper
and pieces of the original Rhyolite. The photo above does not do justice for the vug as it is much
larger and deeper in person. These are the features that make this specimen interesting and
rare. The fact that there is a drill core scar stretching from right to left into the Copper vug is
what makes this piece unique! Many decades ago this specimen was drilled into during Copper
exploration at the Centennial Mine (circa 1973-1974). I haven't seen another specimen like this
one and I doubt there is another one out there. The drill core is smooth and about 12 cm by 3 cm.

Brilliant specimen of Native Wire Silver on Acanthite and Quartz matrix!
This specimen caught my eye immediately and I've seen more Moroccan Silvers than I can
count probably. I think it's the intense luster and beautiful toning that attracted me to the piece
first but I also like the way the wires curl around at the very top of the Quartz and Acanthite

Quartz matrix. The Acanthite is quite lustrous and appears mainly at the edges and back side.

Large, impressive cluster of Milky Quartz crystals with green Chlorite inclusions!
This is the largest Milky Quartz I've ever seen from Mt. Ida and honestly, I haven't seen very many
as most that are found there are transparent, colorless rock crystal. The huge point on the left measures
21 cm in length while the crystal point on the right measures nearly 26 cm! Nestled between the huge
points are numerous smaller crystals and these are present on the back side as well. The left crystal
changes over to a nearly transparent Quartz near the top termination but the right crystal is all Milky
with a wonderful glassy luster covering the white cream surfaces where the Chlorite is not present.
There also appears to be a scepter or attempt at forming a scepter just below the termination.

LARGE CABINET specimen of Native Silver in metallic matrix with Safflorrite!
This specimen is very heavy and incredibly rich. It could have easily been part of the famous "Silver Sidewalk" considering
the size of the Silver seam but fortunately it was preserved for posterity as a specimen. A large seam of gleaming Native
Silver can be seen extending down the top half of the matrix and popping out of the narrow openings along the bottom half.
A sparkling coating of Safflorite is visible atop the bottom portion, forming roundish clusters alongside the Silver. The
matrix is a grey metallic mass that appears to be Arsenopyrite with possibly some Galena and Nickeline in the mix.
This is a classic specimen of Silver from a classic mining locality that dates back to the early 1900's. It's also one of the
most impressive Cobalt specimens I've seen to date and definately the heaviest. It could be trimmed but I like it as is.
From the Langis Mine, Casey Township, Cobalt Area, Cobalt-Gowganda region, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada.
Circa 1910-1920's. Measures 24.5 cm by 10 cm by 8.3 cm in total size.

RARE!! Scarce specimen of Köttigite crystal sprays on Limonite!
Köttigite is a Zinc Arsenate Hydrate and quality specimens like this one rarely appear at the
shows. This small cab plate of Limonite had not one but several separate sprays of the greenish-
blue mineral and all were in excellent condition thanks to the protective ridge along the left edge
of the matrix. The crystals are acicular, with the largest spray measures a full inch across (2.5 cm)!

Note: There is a 3 cm spray on the backside but it does have a slight contact.

NEW FIND! Colorful crystal of Halite with colorless Sylvite!
These wonderful specimens first appear at the Denver Show last year and quickly left the market.
Now a better batch of specimens has come to market at Tucson and the prices are skyrocketing.
I purchased this specimen early on so the prices are right and reasonable.
This 5 cm Halite crystal
displays a gorgeous coloration of bluish-purple and sits on matrix alongside the 6.5 cm transparent
Sylvite crystal. The crystal faces of both are smooth and glassy with a slight surface texture which
reflects light in the above photo. The nature of these Halite crystals is stable and the combination of
the two minerals is one that could play out at any time. This is one of the best pieces I have to offer.

Great looking specimen of Spangolite with Azurite balls on layered Limonite matrix!
This is a fine specimen with coverage atop the entire matrix. The greenish-blue Spangolite lays flat
atop the brown matrix while the blue balls of Azurite rise upwards as much as 1 cm, adding relief to the surface.
The back side of the specimen is full of micro-crystals of Spangolite. They cover the Limonite coated Azurite with
an intense sparkle. Interesting fact about Spangolite - it was named after a mineral collector from Tombstone,
Arizona. Norman Spang had several specimens of the mineral in his collection which became the type material.
He apparently had found them somewhere in the area near Tombstone but the exact source was never located.

Rare and historical specimen of Chlorargyrite with Malachite from California!
These fine tan colored crystals of Chlorargyrite are framed by fibrous green Malachite.
The specimen is from the old mining town of Calico, San Bernardino County, California.
Calico was established in the 1880's as a Silver mining town and at its height had over 500
mines in operation. When the price of Silver declined in the 1890's, the town began to lose
population. When the Borax operation shut down in 1907, the desert town was completely
abandoned and became a ghost town. Today, Calico has been restored and is now a park.
Specimens from Calico are very rare in the marketplace and this is the first I've offered.
