RARE! Incredible specimen featuring a
LAVENDER Beryl crystal with Quartz and Albite!
This is from a very small find of colored Beryls.
It was discovered in Pakistan about three or
four years ago and was brought back by Herb Obboda. The crystal itself is doubly
terminated
with a delicate tint of lavender. I've seen thousands of Beryls in my days but I've never
seen
another of this color. It is 100% natural and untampered with as indicated by the slight
zoning
which would have been completely lost if the specimen were heated. The crystal is very
gemmy
and super lustrous on all sides. My guess as to how this color happened? Well, looking
down
into the crystal from the top, I can see what appears to be a core of blue. If an
Aquamarine
crystal were later overgrown by a light colored Morganite, I could imagine it might be
possible
for the pink to mix with the blue creating a shade of lavender from the exterior. That's
my guess.
From the Shigar Valley, NE of Skardu, Pakistan.
Measures 6.4 cm by 5.4 cm by 5 cm in size.
