Dazzling
golden Topaz and Aquamarine
crystals with green Fluorite and Smoky Quartz on Albite!
This is one of the rarest specimens to come my way in quite some time. Most
collectors have never
seen this combination because it occurs so rarely and the individual Pegmatitic
zones of these gem
minerals do not appear together very often. When they do, the specimens are
generally smaller and
unimpressive, not anywhere near the calibre of this amazing large cabinet plate.
This specimen is in
excellent condition with fully terminated crystals and no damage. For the
combination, the Aquamarines
are in amazing condition and display gemmy-clear terminations. The Topaz is
quite large with a deep
coloration and a gemmy interior. The green Fluorite octahedrons add the perfect
touch of color to the
foreground. I think they really complete the picture and the plate wouldn't be
the same without
them. This combo specimen represents an amazing opportunity to acquire a
spectacular and very
rare centerpiece. You could search a dozen Tucsons or Denver Shows and not see
another one.
Locality: Shigar Valley, Skardu
District, Baltistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Areas of Pakistan.
Measures: 15.5 cm by 13 cm by 11 cm in total size.

An exceptional Native Wire Silver
with Acanthite, Galena, and complete Calcite rhomb!
This incredible Native Silver features a thick and quite heavy crystalline base
which gives rise to several crystal
studded wires at the very top. The wires are stout and firm and the crystal
accenting appears to be Acanthite or possibly
Silver ps after Acanthites crystals. These crystals can be easily in the close
up picture to the lower left. To the left side of
the Silver wires is a complete, stepped white Calcite rhomb and this is
something that most collectors consider to be the
"holy grail" of requirements for a Kongsberg Silver specimen to reach the
highest level of desirability! They are also
incredibly difficult to find. I can count the number of Kongsberg Silvers with a
complete Calcite rhomb that I've seen in
the past 25 years on just one hand. Near the center of the specimen is a cluster
of larger Silver cubes so this is a specimen
that has everything, including a wonderful provenance with a handwritten
original label from the early 1800's. In excellent
condition with no detraction to speak of and worthy of the finest mineral
cabinets.
Locality:
Kongsberg Silver Mining District, Kongsberg,
Buskerud, Norway.
Measures:
Silver with Calcite measures 8.6 cm by 5 cm by 6 cm
in total size.
